Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Bars! One of my favorite easy to bake desserts!
Ohhhh hiiiiii! I love bringing some of my old recipes over to my current Baking with Melissa blog, so I’m digging into the recipe archives again!
I originally shared these Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Bars on February 23, 2012, less than a year after officially launching Baking with Melissa. I had already been sharing recipes online before starting the business, and there are SO many tucked away on my old blog that I want to start giving them a new home over here.
One thing you’ll notice about my recipes is that I like to keep them EASY! You definitely do not have to be an experienced baker to make them. Even a novice baker can jump into the kitchen and make something delicious! And apparently in February of 2012, I was on a serious chocolate and peanut butter kick. 😂 Here’s what I wrote about these bars back then:
“Whew! I am on a Chocolate and Peanut Butter kick these days! If you want to make a REALLY great treat for your next social event, BRING THESE BARS! Not only are they AMAZING to eat (people go NUTS over them), but they are super easy and inexpensive to make!”
Here’s the recipe!!!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Bars
Ingredients
1 (18.25) white cake mix (or use chocolate)
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup creamy peanut butter
2 eggs
1 (12 oz) package semi sweet chocolate chips
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 Tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Combine cake mix, melted butter, peanut butter, and eggs in a large bowl using a mixer or spoon. Press this into a 9X13 pan (sprayed with non-stick spray) reserving 1 and 1/2 cup of the mixture to crumble on top.
- In a small pot, melt chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
- Spread chocolate mixture over the mixture pressed in the pan and then crumble the 1 1/2 cups of reserved cake mixture on top evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool COMPLETELY before cutting into bars.
My original tip: Make the day before you want to serve them so the fudge center really sets! Or you can refrigerate them for a couple of hours! They taste good either way, but when the fudge was thick and completely set it makes a WORLD of difference when cutting/serving these bars!

From My Recipe Blog to Baking with Melissa Today
It’s pretty fun to look back at a recipe I posted in 2012 and think about everything Baking with Melissa has grown into since then. I still love sharing approachable recipes, but these days most of my baking happens right alongside your party guests!

I bring baking birthday parties and cupcake decorating parties to homes and event spaces throughout Los Angeles, including my customized Cupcake Challenge parties where your party guests work together through different decorating challenges. I also bring the Baking with Melissa experience to companies through in-person corporate team-building events in Los Angeles and virtual baking events for teams around the world.
So I’m going to keep sprinkling some of these old favorites into the blog along with everything happening with Baking with Melissa today. There are a LOT of recipes hiding in those archives!
